Overall aim of this chapter: to give the reader (trainers and TPDs), an idea of how to actually teach on the consultation; how there are a variety of methods and that we advise using a variety of methods rather than just using RCGP's Consultation Observation Tool (COT). Discuss the pros and cons of the various models OF TEACHING on the consultation and give some idea on how to do it practically. For me, ALOBA is the dog's b*ll*cks and perhaps spending some time devoted to ALOBA might be worthwhile (i.e. how to actually do it).
- Focusing on microskills vs the whole consultation
- 1-1 teaching vs group teaching of consultation skills (see document right on different methods of teaching consultation skills on a 1-1 basis)
