Personality in Practice
-
Overall aim of this chapter: to make the reader aware of the different learning and personality styles within individuals which thus affects their ability to acquire new information. And how we must therefore always bear this in mind when designing and delivering an educational session to a group of learners: trying to captivate as many of them as we can through varying our methodology to match their styles.
- Remember, some of the questionairres are copyrighted and therefore MUST NOT be reproduced without explicit permission (esp. Honey and Mumford who are particular about its distribution).
- The emphasis in this chapter might be around how all learners are different, which would overlap a little with constructivism, but bring in narrative, as well as the various inventories (Honey & Mumford et al).
- Why identification of personality types/traits is important - helps you understand why a trainee might behave in a particular way, helps you modify how you interact with your trainee, and particularly useful with the difficult trainee in terms of finding remedial action
