Overall aim of this chapter: to help the reader realise the importance of setting aims and objectives for anything we do! Otherwise, what's the purpose? Need to mention that objectives need to be specific otherwise the whole thing can become woolly and vague. It's the aims and objectives that 'hook' people into a session and therefore how important it is for them to based on learner(s) needs rather than that of the teacher. To be able to do this means knowing all the different sorts of ways of identifying learning needs and to have incorporated flexibility in the educational session plan to be able to cater for them. Remember, aims and objectives can be set not only for the content but for the process too. Ask the audience as they say in "who wants to be a millionaire?"
